Some Small Stuff

I will be out of the office for the coming two days to do motorcycle maintenance on the R1200C at the dealer in Rochester.

Some Technology Stuff going around:

  • Sam Ruby innovated the weblog world once again by tagging objectionable text in the comments to his postings, and rendering it in a strike-through font. This caused quite a stir.
  • James Snell picked up on that with a very nicely worded policy for his weblog. I very much like the analogy with paintings, and if people would ever start to post objectionable material in comments on this blog, I surely will follow his example.
  • The JBOSS coup is bad for many parties involved, except for Sun, who has been questioning the stability of the JBoss business for sometime now and is likely to take advantage of this. Fleury was supposed to present a paper at Middleware 2003 in two weeks, I am curious to see whether he will keep his promise.

  • Weblog downtime: this weekend I hope to perform some long overdue maintenance on the hosting machine: upgrade the OS to the production version of W2K3, the MT software to 2.64 and to add Mark Pilgrim's mobile-edition code to the server.
