I had a great day yesterday sitting in the audience of the first day of the Amazon Developers conference and just listening and discussing the speakers. This was the first time in a long time that I was at a conference where I didn't play a role in organizing or presenting. It was strange at first, but Joel Spolsky's talk as the first speaker was just hilarious and I was very, very happy that I wasn't the presenter to come after him. Fortunately George Dyson did a magnificent job with his von Neumann talk, which I have heard many people say was the intellectual highlight of the first day.
Something else that was amazing was the extremely detailed coverage that the bloggers of the developer relations team did of reporting on all the presentations. Go over to the AWS typepad for a very good read of the first day. I don't recall having ever seen such a detailed conference report on a single weblog. This is not just the work of Jeff, but Laura, Craig and Elena deserve a lot of credit for the writing.
Today’s line-up is divided into two tracks: one with presentations on AspectJ, Struts, MySQL, Hibernate and JBoss, and a second on RedHat, Sleepycat, Mozilla, Eclipse and Python. Live coverage once more at the AWS weblog
